Breast
Augmentation
Augmentation mammoplasty is a procedure to enlarge small breasts, underdeveloped breasts, or breasts that have decreased in size after a woman has had children. A breast lift may be done in conjunction with an augmentation to change the overall aesthetics of the breast. Breast augmentation does not lift the breast. The primary goal of this surgery is to restore lost volume or for overall size increase.
Implants, types and sizes are customized to suit each person's unique anatomy. Some contain silicone gel, saline (salt water) solution or a combination of both.
Incisions will be made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible, in the breast crease, around the nipple, or in the armpit. Breast tissue and skin is lifted to create a pocket for each implant.
Recovery
Most cases return to work in less than a week following the surgery. Following the surgery, a surgical bra is worn for approximately 4 weeks.
